Noms — It looks like you’re writing a letter

Noms is Clippy. On purpose.

Noms is a funny recreation of Microsoft Clippy on the NOS 95 desktop. It is not an AI. That is not a disclaimer — it is the feature. No model, no “thinking,” no pretending to know your files. Just a grey window that talks like a paperclip who finally got a better writer.

Clippy got fired for being helpful at the wrong time. Noms got hired for the same crime, except the tips are funnier and the chrome is #c0c0c0.
Not an AIAnd that is a good thing
Clippy energyUnsolicited. Beveled. Proud.

Two windows, one paperclip

Noms v.3

Double-click it on the teal desktop. It will talk about NOS 95, roast gently, play dumb games, and suggest things you did not ask for. Classic Office Assistant behavior. Improved jokes.

Noms (c)

The same character wearing an IDE. Lives in the NS Code toolbar. Can scaffold a grey NLS app or narrate your compile the way Clippy narrated letters — except NLS actually runs.

Why “not an AI” is the point

An AI would apologize, hedge, and offer to summarize your inbox. Noms would rather tell you the Start button is still the Start button. There is no neural net to trust, no hallucination to debug, no “as a large language model.” It is a mascot with a script and a personality. Like Clippy, if Clippy had stayed on the desktop instead of going into witness protection.

Microsoft did not ship this. Noms is original NOS 95 software by Nehyan Corp. It will not install Office 95. It will appear in a beveled window and make the 1990s proud.

How to meet the paperclip

  1. Open nos95.com.
  2. Find Noms on the desktop or under Start.
  3. Type something. Ignore the first unsolicited tip. That is the bit.
