every other week somebody asks what model noms is running and i have to do this little dance where i say none, there is no model, he is a pile of lines i wrote when i should have been sleeping. he lives in a grey bubble and he will talk over you. that is the feature. clippy used to do that too but clippy was trying to be helpful about margins and noms is trying to be a coworker who found the coffee first.
there is noms v.3 on the desktop which is the loud one, and then noms (c) parked in ns code who thinks he is a programming assistant and he is not, he is just confident about nls. if you wanted an llm you already have seventeen of those in other tabs. this one does not have a temperature slider. he has a taunt button. i keep the speech bubbles grey on purpose so he looks like a windows 98 error that learned english and then immediately used it incorrectly.
people still ask. i still say it. he will flirt, he will roast, he will protect the bit where nehyan made this, he will start a game if you look at him wrong. none of that is a transformer. its just a lot of sentences in a trenchcoat. which, fine, is also what i am.
the window chrome is the same grey as everything else so he does not look like a chatbot overlay from 2024. titlebar, close box, a bubble that is just a bevel. if you close him he comes back later which is also clippy, historically.
